Oh no! You are in the middle of preparing a dish and realize that you are missing a key ingredient! Here is a list of substitutions to help you.

1 tablespoon cornstarch = 2 tablespoons flour

1 cup all-purpose flour = 1 cup + 2 tablespoons cake flour

1 package active dry yeast = 1 cake compressed yeast

1 square (1 ounce) unsweetened chocolate = 3 tablespoons cocoa + 1 tablespoon butter

1 whole egg = 2 egg yolks

1 cup sour milk = 1 tablespoon lemon juice or vinegar + 1 cup milk

1 cup thin sour cream = 3 tablesppons butter and 3/4 cup sour milk

1 cup milk = 1/2 cup evaporated milk + 1/2 cup water

1 cup molasses = 1 cup honey

1 tablespoon instant minced onion, dehydrated = 1 small fresh onion

1 tablesppon prepared mustard = 1 teaspoon dry mustard
