Before you fire up that grill, here are some tips to help you get in grilling-shape for the months ahead. Ø In addition to your regular cleaning, thoroughly clean the grill at least once a year. Ø Replace old and dirty lava rocks with new ones. Ø While you are removing the lava rocks, take the opportunity to clean the bottom of the grill with hot soapy water. Ø Removed the grates and wash them, along with the lid, with hot soapy water. Ø Inspect the burners to make sure they are still in good working condition. Most burners are only good for 2 seasons; replace yours if necessary. Ø Check the gas lines to make sure they are free of dirt and grease. Read the manufacturer’s manual for recommendations on how to do this. Ø And finally if you are thinking of getting Dad a Father’s Day Grilling-Present, how about getting new mitts, utensils and cleaning brush.
