This morning I watched my husband walk down the snow path to feed our little menagerie...1 bunny, 6 grey geese,  about a dozen different breeds of chickens, and almost 15 different ducks.  Everyone grew excited as they saw him approach because they knew he was bringing treats.

ImageEverytime I cook, whether it's at home or for a client, I save the vegetable and fruit scraps.  Nothing goes to waste!  Apple and pear cores, lettuce leaves, cucumber peels and seeds, celery, melon rinds, old potatoes and peels, broccoli and cauliflower stems, Brussel sprout leaves, old carrots and old bread...all make wonderful treats for our little friends.  At this time of the year they wait down by their little house, flapping their wings and hopping around in excitement when it's feeding time.  But in the warmer months, they come a-runnin' when we open the backdoor - just like kids to the ice-cream truck - or peer in the patio door window, wondering when we'll appear.

Last night we discovered that Bunny even likes mangos.  I saved the skins and cores, not knowing if he'd eat them.  Bunny took one sniff with little nose and started shaking with excitement.  I've lived with farm animals almost all my life and never would have thought that rabbits eat mangos!
